The Band

Originally the word Ceilidh (kay-lee) descended from the Gaelic word for ‘gathering’ or ‘party’… However, these days when people think of a Ceilidh, they think of a fun filled night of wild dancing, good music and great company!

Schuggie has been hosting ceilidhs for well nearly 15 years, and he and his live band will be delivering a full-on authentic Scottish-style ceilidh experience.

Schuggie's social and inclusive style of ceilidh will encourage all guests onto the dance floor, no matter their age or ability.

All dances will be called, so don't worry if you're a beginner or don't know the steps - you'll be guided through them on the night.

The dances performed at ceilidhs date back to the 18th-century, with "Caledonian Country Dances" becoming popular in upper-class London society in the decades after the Jacobite rising of 1745. This style of dancing is therefore very appropriate for any historical event!

Food & Drinks

Included in your ticket is a delicious selection of sandwiches and buffet finger-food provided by the catering team at The Belgrave Rooms, served at half-time.

Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages can be purchased from the bar throughout the night.

A selection of Vegetarian food options will be available as part of the buffet on the night, but we regret that other special dietary requirements cannot be catered to. We advise any attendees with special dietary requirements to eat beforehand.

Dress Code

The 2026 dress code theme is The Court of the Pumpkin King.

Attendees are invited to dress in historical attire (medieval to 1910) in shades of orange, black or green, or any combination of those colours. Leaf, pumpkin, and vine motifs and decoration are highly encouraged.

Attire must of a high standard of historical dress first and foremost, but more fantastical elements (fabric choice, hair and makeup, etc) are encouraged in order to meet the theme.

We fully support attendees repurposing their costumes from previous years - orange trim or a green overskirt can transform an all-black mourning dress, creeping vines can add drama to a top hat or pocket square.

All attendees must adhere to the Dress Code - please read it carefully and in full.

The Venue

The Belgrave Rooms

25 Goldsmith Street

Nottingham

NG1 5LB

The Belgrave Rooms are located within the historic Provincial Grand Lodge on Goldsmith Street, built in 1880. The dance hall retains its period features, and the grand staircase in the foyer offers an excellent backdrop for photos. Our team of prop makers and decorators are already hard at work, ready to give the venue a spooky and supernatural Halloween makeover.

Accessibility: Access to the venue is up a flight of steps. Once inside the venue, all rooms including the dance hall, bar, and toilets, are all on the same floor.

Event Car Park: We recommend that you park in the nearby Q-Park Nottingham Central or Q-Park Talbot Street car parks which can be booked in advance, and are just a short walk from both the hotel and venue.

Tram: The Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram runs right past the venue. Get off at the Nottingham Trent University stop and walk the 175 yards to the venue.

Accommodation

Nottingham city centre has a wide selection of hotels to book. We recommend the Premier Inn Nottingham City Centre (Goldsmith Street) which is just a 2-minute walk along the road from the Belgrave Rooms. Most rooms are available as twin rooms, making it ideal to share with a friend in order to half the cost. Rooms typically go on sale 10 months ahead of time.
