Haunted:
An Ode to Ghost Stories
and Gothic Literature
Something wicked this way comes...
The British Guild of Historical Costume Makers has hosted a number of sell-out historical dinners, afternoon teas and residential trips. Now they are prepared to present an eerie evening of entertainment in the form of the Historical Halloween Ball; a ceilidh and disco with an suitably spooky historical theme and dress code. Forget the MET Gala, this event is an altogether more spine-chilling affair.
This is an adults-only event. Attendees must be 18+ on the date of the Ball.

I did not believe in ghosts.
Or rather, until this day, I had not done so...
Costume Competition
Throughout the evening our judges will be on the lookout for costumes that meet the brief, are creative and well-made, and show attention to detail. Winners will receive a petrifying prize and eternal glory!
Ceilidh & Disco
You will be swept off your feet with our spooky Scottish ceilidh, hosted by our mysterious maestro: Schuggie of Schuggie's Ceilidhs. This style of dancing dates back to the 18th century, and was popular throughout the 19th century and beyond. The evening will conclude with a Halloween disco with all your favourite terrifying tunes.
Food & Drinks
At half-time, guests will be treated to a delicious selection of finger food, included with their ticket. A wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available to purchase from the bar.
I heard one cry in the night, and I heard one laugh afterwards.
If I cannot forget that, I shall not be able to sleep again...
A house is never still in darkness to those who listen intently; there is a whispering in distant chambers...
Our venue for the Historical Halloween Ball is The Belgrave Rooms, in Nottingham City Centre. The Rooms are located within the historic Provincial Grand Lodge on Goldsmith Street, built in 1880.
The location is well serviced by public transport, and is just a 2-minute walk from the Premier Inn on the same street, and a number of car parks.
...my fingers closed on the fingers of a little, ice-cold hand!
The intense horror of the nightmare came over me...
